Love, Defined

Love is not about how much money
someone can spend on you.
It's about how much time you spend together.
It's not about how popular they are, or if
you're too good for them.
It's about how you don't care what anyone
thinks as long as you have each other.
It's not about the clothes they wear.
It's about how you didn't notice what
they were wearing because you were too
busy laughing with them to notice.
It's not about how long you've known
each other.
It's about making the most of the time
you spend together.
But the most important thing to remember
is to always remember them,
because they will remember you.


Liars, Backstabbers, and the Confused

You can't control me
I'm not yours, not your property
Stop trying to own me
Leave me alone
When you say you care,
sometimes I think it's an excuse
Actions do not match words
Don't lie to me
Leave me alone
If it's my future like you say
My life, my choices
Let me make them
Let me learn the hard way
Leave me alone
I'm an equal
I'm human and I react to things
I have a right to be angry
You can't take away my spirit
Leave me alone
I am who I am
I will always be, so accept that
Your problems with me are yours
Deal with them yourself
And leave me alone

Breakup

Come home and yank off your shoes
Throw them at the wall
No more believing excuses,
no more lying to yourself
Just crawl to the corner
curl up and cry like you've done before
so many times
In the bathroom stall
Into your own hands,
shoulders and fingers shaking
Suddenly you stop and realize that
you don't deserve this
you deserve to smile
he made the wrong choices
it's not your responsibility
It's a good thing he's gone
"F*** you" you say aloud, testing the
words on your lips
Let him go, it's his loss


Self-Esteem

You tell me not to worry
because I worry about you
"more than you worry about yourself"
But this is the cause of my concern
if you do not care,
who will?
You tell me you're okay
this is a temporary phase
It will come and go as always
But when will it swallow you
and take you away?

I'm so tired of being
left behind
Always the last thing
to cross your mind
Just let me sit here
and cry for a while

The Broken Picture Frame


So tear
my bloody heart out
You're the author
I'm the book

Every word
that you are writing
cuts me deeper
Take a look

There's this
something strange about me
that allows me
not to cry

See the funny thing
is I can't heal
proud of scars
I won't lie

In the mirror
what I see
a shattered picture
you and me

Well, as I stated I shall now put up my "Panic" poem. Here goes nothing...

Panic

The world pushes down on you
Crushing you inside
Black, a lack of color
So serene and yet so deadly
When everyone else is unaware
To them, it's all the same
they can breathe
they are not blinded
Because it's all in your head
Inside you, hidden from other eyes
Is there something wrong with me?
Am I losing my mind?
These questions threaten you
every second of every day
You torture yourself
torn up from the inside out
Slowly your life shrinks
Smaller, into a corner of yourself
Untill you're in a box
One wall has a window
So you can see your separation
One wall has a door
But it's always locked without a key
One wall is blank
Takes it all away so you feel nothing
The last wall has a mirror
So you can see yourself deteriorate

Wow thats alot. I haven't read them all but I like them all so far. My favorite line is "But when will it swallow you and take you away? " It's very interseting and it makes me think. Good.

Wow Jay, the last one is really good! I think it's the best poem you've ever written, in my opinion anyways. It sort of makes me thing of the Used song, The Bird and the Worm.

and yet numb to the feeling
Darkness is so sweet
when compared to pain
when you shut it off
like water
running from a faucet
the little drops escape
when you block the pain
a wall is built
a block in your mind
when you slip
and strength is hindered
it will break
and you will drown
