This usually gets to be a pretty heated debate! Well, let's throw this out there:
I believe in God, but not the Christian God. More of a spiritual presence, if you will...

I am Goddess, fear me! Just kidding, funny phone conversations rule!
Anyways, I really don't know what I believe, I want proof, but at the same time, I believe in souls so I must believe in some sort of higher power somewhere inside me, because you know, without souls we'd virtually be plants or viruses or bacteria or something of the like,a s far as persaonlity I mean. ^^

I suppose you make a good point there.
However, even without a higher power there could be souls existing individually. But once again, this raises the question: How were the souls created?

Ah the heated argument of God, Religion and so on.. No one has yet claimed Atheism, But before they do, and even if you believe in God and such, I want to throw this out. Read, "I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist" By: Norman L. Geisler And be amazed.
I believe in God, in all ways, I am a Christian and half my family are in the Missionary business, In fact I shall be joining them soon to assist with the .com ministry.
I find God to be real, there has to be a higher power out there, if I am still living today.

I think it's good to be religious, if it enlightens you and makes you a happier, more content person. However, It's not good to try to convince others to join your religion if they have clearly stated that they are happy with their own beliefs. Don't missionaries go to people's doors? Or am I mistaken?

Oh I dislike much when people try so hard to convert. that is wrong. it drives people away from religion, and from my understanding Christians are not to do such a thing, my understanding is try once, a few times maybe, then leave the rest to God (as in prayer) and HE will do it. But pushing it on people is wrong.
and no Missionaries go to places where God is seldom heard (in a positive way at least) and held those people by building churches and just.. well helping in the name of the Lord.
For example, my Grandparents where Missionaries in Peru and are current in deep places in Mexico.

Oh yes! I remember now! I used to know someone whose parents were missionaries in Africa. I don't have a religion; I know basic ideas - almost everything about different religions, but never found one that seemed to fit. I kind of believe a bit of each.

Well you won't hear/read me saying "ooh oohh you ahr goin tew Heeeellll" because.. that is wrong. I will however, offer any advice, or any other such thing you might require upon request. I do not force feed my religion, but I shall say, My life doesn't go by, a time consuming dreadful, waste as I let it before, with nothing to live for but myself, I now see the world as a time bomb. (as if that is any better) but a time bomb, and we are on this earth to rescue as many lost souls as we can before that bomb goes off. Now as that may seem depressing, I see it as wonderful. We (Christians) or I at least, feel a hero. Though the true hero is God and I shall never take credit for bringing anyone to Heaven with me (yes I believe in that as well) But my once suicidal mentality is laid to rest so peacefully with that knowledge that I can help those who have nothing inside, as I did. They think they do, but they don't.. it is a filler, soon to run out. But the filler that is God lasts forever. Once saved always saved. Once filled, always filled. I am rambling again.. But I just have to say (and, make fun as you shall) I feel so blessed and happy to know that in these times I have a great retirement plan, and that is God. I am watched after 100% He will not give me any more than I can handle and even with that He will carry me through it. He won't ever let me fall, and if something happens and I feel let down and defeated it won't be long before He brings me back up higher than before. God is just good, good to me, to my family. and some call it dumb luck, but I have seen this "dumb luck" work too many times. and in so many ways, I have given it the title God as which it is and will never go back and believe me, I was messed up to the max. If he can save me, he can save anyone.
My goodness. I just went off didn't I...

I don't think God is a "he" I think God is a presence, with no gender. In fact, why can't God be an animal, such as a frog or an eagle?

Today I was reading a book (who would have thought a Stephen King book would have a good quote for this conversation? ^^) and one character said something that wasn't about this subject in particular, but I think it makes a lot of sense and so I shall enlighten you to what he said (I'm going to have to put in their whole conversation, and it switches between Bill [William] and Ginelli): "Well, there's one more thing I believe in William. I believe in what I see. That's why I'm a relatively rich man. That's also why I'm a living man. Most people, they don't believe what they see." "No?" "No. Not unless it goes along with what they already believe. You know what I saw in this drugstore where I go? Just last week I saw this." "What?" "They got a blood-pressure machine in there. I mean, theysometimes got them in shopping malls, too, but in the drugstore it's free. You put your arm through the loop and push the button. The loop closes. You sit there for a while and think serene thoughts and then it lets go. The reading flashes up top in big red numbers. Then you look on the cart where it says 'low', 'normal', and 'high' to figure out what the numbers mean. You get the picture?" Billy nodded. "[. . .] And this fat guy comes wadling in, I mean, he goes a good two-fifty [. . .] The high-blood pressure machine catches his eye. So he sits down and the machine does its thing. Up comes the reading. Two-twenty over one-thirty, it says. [. . .] So what does this dummocks do? He looks at mea and says 'all this digital S*** is f***ed up' [. . .] You know what the moral of that story is, William? Some guys - a lot of guys - don't believe in what theya re seeing, especially if it gets in the way of what they want to eat or drink or think or believe. Me, I don't believe in God. But if I saw him I would."
Okay, yeah, sorry if there are typos, but anyways, I'm not saying I agree with that 100%, but I think he makes a good point. I don't always need to see something to belieive it, but if I did see something and it obviously wasn't fake then like Ginelli I would believe it.

Very good! It makes a good point and also amuses me. It's always good to bring humor into these types of discussions.

That's so great! I think if God is so great "he" should be able to come show his face to all of the little humans on Earth and just prove he exists.

And I must say, there's a great song by the wonderful band Modest Mouse [I'm wearing my MM shirt right now ^^] that is called Bukowski. In the song it goes: "If God controls the land and disease, and keeps a watchful eye on me, if he's really so damn mighty, well my problem is that I can't see, well who'd wanna be? Who'd wanna be such a control freak? Well who would wanna be? Who would wanna be such a control freak?" Yeah, so if there is a god, I don't think that it would take such a personal interest in everyone's life like this song is saying.
